NYFW: Trend forecast

We wanted to share some of the upcoming trends we think will come out of NYFW.

#1. Sporty Chic: The runway was full of different designs that incorporated athletic pieces with feminine silhouettes. We saw sporty separates such as mesh T-shirts and cropped pants, as well as loose fitting tops and jackets that had a very relaxed feel to them.
Rag & Bone

#2. Flower Power: As to be expected for Spring, designers sent down the runway a parade of different patterns and textures of floral prints. However, it wasn't just the usual pretty floral patterns that we're used to seeing. We loved how Cynthia Rowley used this print in a way that had an almost mysterious feel to it by distorting the floral designs.

#3. Pretty Peplums: We LOVE a good, structured peplum. So we were super excited to see all the different versions of this fun detail throughout NYFW. Wether it was flowy, patterned, textured, or rigid, the peplum was definitely a notable trend that will for sure take the fashion world by storm.
Jason Wu

#4. Futuristic: Not only were trends of the future strutting down the runways, you could literally see the futuristic elements in some of the pieces. From shiny, metallic fabrics to structured silhouettes, a handful of designers chose to predict the future with their cutting edge designs.

NYFW: Marchesa Spring 2012

Marchesa S/S 2012

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig know how to design some absolutely jaw-dropping dresses. The designers of Marchesa literally took our breath away with the designs they sent down the runway. From full-out fringe to gowns that swept the front row seats, the collection exuded sexiness and glamour. The detail and finish of each garment is what makes this label stand out from others. We couldn't wait to see what design was going to come down the runway next. We wish the show never would have ended! Absolutely gorgeous.

NYFW: Tory Burch S/S 2012

Fashion week Spring/ Summer 2012 was Tory Burch's first time to give a runway show. Let us first start off by saying, there was no dissapointment of any kind. The garments she sent down the runway were effortless, chic, feminine, and perfect for the everyday woman to wear during her day job or out on the town. Tory stated in her interview with Style.com that she was inspired by the 1940's. Through her collection, she made the decade come alive. Her outfits consisted of fringe accents, kneelength skirts, and every garment had a glamourous shine to it. The colors made a statement with pinks, peaches, yellows, and blues; staying out of the neutrals. For her first runway show ever, she did an amazing, fab job!

NYFW: Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2012

Rebecca Minkoff sure did not disappoint us with this collection! The show was full of vibrant colors and fun patterns that are so perfect and on trend for spring. We love how she incorporated such great detailing into all of her pieces. Flared trousers, cropped pants, leather shorts, girly dresses, funky necklines, and not to mention the amazing structured blazers that we are DYING over. Such a fun mix of femininity, edge, and glamour. She gets two thumbs up from us!

NYFW: Cynthia Rowley Spring 2012

Cynthia Rowley has been catching our eye lately with her feminine yet sophisticated and chic designs. Her runway show on Friday pushed the boundaries by adding a sporty feel to her designs. She added a touch of athleticism through her separates such as bonded leggings and mesh t-shirts. Her feminine silhouettes were present as always through her flowy party dresses and distorted floral prints. Metallic patterns and gold sequins showed up throughout the show that complimented the super chic and fun mirrored runway...I mean how awesome is that?!
